Rod Sanford has authored more than 15 books across multiple genres. Through his company, Writ-A-Fella Publishing, Julie & Ella Johansson bring to life The Time Queen series—five novels of emotional time travel, layered mysteries, and stories of second chances.
Rod’s Story
Rod Sanford, originally from East St. Louis, Illinois, was an award-winning journalist with a degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was also an insurance investigator with over 25 years of handling cases worth over $3 billion.
Rod is a blessed five-year cancer survivor. Balance Patience and Faith details his journey, his family’s contributions, and the lessons they have learned from it.
Rod currently lives in Celebration, Florida with his wife, Stephanie, and two wonder dogs—Jaxson and Rosie. When he isn’t writing, he enjoys being an amateur foodie and a happily unsuccessful gardener.

His Dying Hard Mysteries books follow amateur sleuths at African-American national events like jazz festivals in New Orleans or college football Classics in the South.
His mysteries contain quirky characters, in unique parts of the world, with unusual and unlikely partnerships required to solve the cases. His stories are full of personalities that couldn’t exist in other lines of work, but good investigations don’t get done without them.
